Our Ceremonies

The Kambo clinic offers a modern version of the traditional Kambo ceremony. Our high-end program fuses a preparation & aftercare program of Hypnotherapy and Mediation with a more clinical spa-style Kambo session experience.

For those who have experienced Kambo in a traditional Shamanic setting and for those who are new to Kambo, the following explanation explains precisely how we run our ceremonies and what you will experience.

BOOKING YOUR CEREMONY

You can book your ceremony by emailing us to see what availability we have.

Before your session, our founder and head practitioner Claire Anstey will contact you to go through your health screening and talk through your reasons for booking your session.

Every client will speak to Claire before having their treatment. It is important to us we understand your needs and give you the best treatment possible.

PREP FOR YOUR SESSION

We provide easy to follow guidelines for our clients to follow in the 48hours before their session. These are sent to you via email.

Your prepping includes:

Choosing the right clothes for your session

Please wear comfortable clothes for your session. Gym gear is perfect. In your treatment, your practitioner will suggest the position for your Kambo points. These could be positioned on your legs, arms, chest or back depending on the meridians or chosen chakras.

We suggest that you bring various layers, including:

  • shorts

  • Vest

  • Jogging bottoms or leggings

  • Warm socks

  • Warm jumper/hoody

  • Ladies, please bring a bra or gym bra top you feel comfortable doing your session in. A halter neck top with an open back is also a good idea if we are positioning points where your bra straps may sit.

It is essential that you feel comfortable with what you are wearing so that your focus on your Kambo journey is not interrupted.

Food & Diet

It is advised that you do not drink any alcohol for at least 24 hours before your treatment and 24 hours after your treatment.

You can eat normally, but most prefer to eat lighter foods 24 hours before the treatment.

It is suggested that you do not eat anything for at least 12 hours before your session. You may drink one cup of water or fruit tea if required in the 5 hours running up to your treatment. Depending on the time of your booking, your practitioner will give you personal guidelines on this. You will drink 2-3 litres of water within your session. This is why we have such strict water limits and protocols.

You can not do a Kambo session if you have been on a water fast or strict fasting regime within the seven days before your treatment.

THE KAMBO CEREMONY

A 121 individual session will take between 2-3 hours, A group ceremony 3-4. Please allow the maximum time for your appointment.

The Setting:

For your Kambo ceremony, we have yoga mats and blocks for your comfort. We have buckets for your purge, and we provide blankets for your rest time. We also play music throughout your session. For those doing a private 121, you are welcome to play your playlists during the session if you choose.

Ceremony Opening:

We begin by opening the ceremony and saying a short prayer and setting our intentions. Your practitioner then cleanses the room and all participants with sage. This ceremonial act enables us to set the room's energy and help our clients relax whilst setting their intentions.

It is then time for your practitioner to create your Kambo gates. The top thin layer of skin is blistered with a hot stick, and the skin is gently rubbed off to expose the epidermis underneath – this is similar to when you have a blister, and the skin rubs off. There is no blood.

We refer to these small breaks in the skin as 'gates'. Kambo enters directly into the Lymphatic System via these 'gates'.

The number and position of the points will vary from person to person, depending on individual needs.

Once your gates in place, it is time for you to drink your water. You will be asked to consume 1.5 to 2 litres of water. Your practitioner will be monitoring you during this process. Once complete, you are ready for your Kambo.

Your practitioner then places your Kambo 'dots' on your 'gates'. This begins your Kambo journey.

The dried Kambo is mixed with a small amount of water and divided into tiny dots. These dots of Kambo are called points, and they are placed on the gates. The points are approximately 1/8" across but can be smaller or slightly larger depending on the treatment.

Kambo is intense but fast. The effects are strong and immediate but over within 20 – 40 minutes.

Most people experience a warm to hot flush on the upper body and face along with increased heart rate.

At this point, different people will react in different ways. Some will feel dizzy, foggy or spaced out; the occasional person will shake or even faint.

Some people have swollen lips or face and slight skin tingling. The Kambo will be racing around your body, scanning it for problems and then going directly to work on those areas. You may experience a throbbing or burning sensation in those areas for a short while. Some people may feel some abdominal discomfort and need to defecate.

Some people cry and have a deep emotional release; others can feel euphoria as negative emotions are removed from the body.

Once the Kambo has cleaned the body, you will purge all the toxins out. The water you consumed previously works as a carrier and enables all the "junk" to be released and removed from your body.

If you are new to Kambo and alternative methods, please do not let the purging aspect of Kambo put you off.

Please see the purge as a gift!

The purge is the end to your suffering. Kambo finds the stuff inside you that is causing you harm and discomfort, and then you are removing it from your body, from your cells by purging it out.

This purging process works on a physical and emotional level. Every Kambo session is different, and your experiences will always be different. Your job as the client is to surrender to the process. Your practitioner is there to observe you, guide you if needed and hold the space so that you feel safe and supported whilst letting go and receiving the most profound healing possible.

Please know that our practitioners have seen it all. Nothing phases us, and we have no judgement. We respect your privacy at all times. It is our honour to take you through such a deep and intimate process.

Rest & Recovery

Your Kambo experience will last anything between 20-40 minutes. After this, you may feel tired and need to rest. Your Kambo points will be removed, and you will rest for 20-40 minutes. Our music will continue to play, and you can just lay down and relax.

Closing the Ceremony

After your rest period, a short prayer of thanks and a moment for personal gratitude is performed to close our ceremony space.

Food & Drink

A light vegan snack of hot tea, fruit, hummus, crackers, bread & soup will be given to you after closing the ceremony space.

This snack enables you to hydrate and rebalances the bodies electrolytes. It also gives you the chance to discuss your session experience with your practitioner.

These are all served as individual snack packs that you are welcome to take home.

AFTERCARE PROGRAM

Continued Rest & Recovery

Sometimes clients leave sessions energised and wanting to go running, and other times they feel emotionally drained and exhausted. We recommend that you give yourself the time to integrate our session and rest after.

Your Kambo Gates

After removing your Kambo points, your practitioner will apply Dragons Blood, a healing liquid made from a root in the Amazon. When the Dragons Blood drys, it provides a dark red seal over your burns. Do not itch or pick at them. They will fall off when the skin underneath is healed. This is also the best way to limit any red marks or scarring.

The Kambo Clinic provides powerful audio sessions that help you integrate and embody the healing of your session. These are available to you in our member's area.

Practitioner Contact

Your practitioner will contact you 36/48 hours after your appointment to see how you are. You are welcome to contact them before this if required.
